Description
A Bordeaux Blanc Sec balancing a beautiful aromatic freshness and great density
The property
Château Thieuley started a new chapter of its history in 1950 when André Courselle bought the château to transform it into a wine estate. In 1972, his son Francis changed the destiny of the estate by transforming the vineyard. The original 4 hectares of the estate was extended to 80 hectares, including Château Thieuley, Clos Saint Anne and Château Saint Genès. An ancestral passion runs through the veins of the family, today represented by Sylvie and Marie Courselle. Both agricultural engineers and oenologists, together they carry on the excellent work of their father.
The vineyard
Produced in the appellation of Bordeaux dry white wines, the Château Thieuley 2020 comes from a 25 hectare plot of clay-limestone soil. In order to preserve this precious terroir, the estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, in particular through the "High Environmental Value" label and the "Bee Friendly" label. Biodiversity is deeply respected and the fruit is harvested in excellent health.
Vinification and ageing
After the harvest, the berries were brought to the cellar to begin a very precise vinification process. First, a skin maceration was carried out, followed by pneumatic pressing under nitrogen. Then, the wine fermented in stainless steel tanks before ageing on its lees for three months with a stirring of the lees.
The blend
Sauvignon Blanc (45%), Sémillon (40%) and Sauvignon Gris (15%).
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is marked by white flowers, balanced with exotic fruits. A touch of citrus fruits and verbena bring plenty of freshness.
Palate
The Château Thieuley 2020 reveals a beautiful aromatic freshness, offering a great density on the palate. This cuvée has a balanced structure and a very pleasant acidity.
