The estate

Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation and dating back to 1365, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the oldest châteaux in Bordeaux. This magnificent estate entered a new era of its history following its purchase by Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990. Driven with passion and ambition by the Cathiard couple, Château Smith Haut Laffite has risen to the rank of the most beautiful estates in Graves with wines renowned worldwide for their elegance and style, both in red and white.

The vineyard

This Château Smith Haut Lafitte white 2023 is a Pessac-Léognan wine from a dedicated vineyard whose vines are 39 years old on average. The château uses its own vine plants thanks to a mother vine preserved in the nursery on Lalande Island.

Vinification and ageing

The manually harvested grapes undergo direct and delicate pressing in an inert environment. Cold static settling before fermentation in barrels (50% new) from the cooperage integrated into the château. Ageing on lees for 12 months in barrels (50% new, 50% of one wine).
