A fine and balanced red wine from Margaux

The estate

Monsieur de Rauzan acquired the seigniory and vines at the beginning of the reign of Louis XIV. Thanks to his wine-making expertise, he transformed Château Rauzan-Gassies into one of the greatest of the Second Growths in the appellation of Margaux in the Bordeaux region. The property now belongs to the Quié family.

The vineyard

Château Rauzan-Gassies 2016 is a Margaux wine that stems from a 28-hectare vineyard. The vines are 35 years old on average and are planted on deep gravel and gravelly sand.

The vintage

The 2016 vintage of Château Rauzan-Gassies was marked by unusual weather conditions, including an extremely wet winter and spring. The cool, rainy spring gave way to a hot, dry summer. Water stress was avoided except on certain young vines, but the quality of the terroir also compensated for these extreme conditions. Harvesting took place from September 29th to October 18th.

The tasting

When relished, Château Rauzan-Gassies 2016 blends power and softness, with very ripe tannins. This Margaux wine seduces with its perfect balance between acidity and alcohol. Very similar to the 2005 vintage, this wine exudes fresh aromas.
