The estate

Alain Brumont has been at the helm of Château Bouscassé, a family-owned estate for several generations. In 1980, he acquired Château Montus. A pioneer and visionary, Alain Brumont enhances the nuances and identity of the Tannat grape, a regional variety, through high-quality wines whose reputation has swiftly beamed beyond borders.

The vineyard

Producing low yields, this Chateau Montus 2021 is a Madiran wine made from vines that are 30 years old on average. The sloping vineyard has a south/south-west exposure and is planted on clay soils with rounded pebbles that allow for excellent drainage and optimal heat diffusion, ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes.

Vinification and ageing

Maceration for 3 to 6 weeks depending on the vintage. Fermentation at 28°C with punching down. Malolactic fermentation in wooden vats. Aged for 12 to 14 months on the lees in barrels (60 to 80% of which are new).
