Description
The complexity and refinement of a Margaux Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Since 1616, Château Marquis d'Alesme has tended to an exceptional terroir in the heart of the Bordeaux region. Combining exoticism and classicism, Château Marquis d'Alesme is a land of culture and passion that produces fine Margaux wines.
The vineyard
Château Marquis d'Alesme manages a 15-hectare vineyard in a plot-by-plot manner. The vineyard, like a garden, is managed with the umost care thanks to the craftsmanship of the château's team. The vines are 40 years old on average and are planted on clay-limestone, silica-gravel and silica-marl soils.
The vinification and ageing
Hand-picked, the grapes are rigorously sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vinification is carried out in 80 hl truncated wooden and stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged in French oak barrels (65% new, 35% first-fill barrels) of which 3 months on lees.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
Merlot (30%)
Cabernet franc (7%)
Petit verdot (3%).
