Tasting
Colour
The colour of Château Marjosse 2023 is an intense black, promising a beautiful concentration.
Nose
On the nose, this wine reveals a high aromatic intensity with floral and fruity notes, oscillating between blackberry, morello cherry and touches of violet, while maintaining a beautiful freshness.
Palate
The attack on the palate is fresh and juicy. The tannins, although marked, are already of a silky texture. The aromatic palette confirms the aromas of the nose with a subtle addition of citrus and bitter orange. The cabernets express themselves at the end of the mouth, bringing dynamism and tension, announcing a remarkable vintage.
A rare and high-quality vintage
The property
Founded in 1782, the Château Marjosse is established in Entre-deux-Mers, on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. Originally, this estate belonged to Bernard Chénier, a wine merchant, before passing into the hands of the Deleuze family. In 1990, some plots are leased to Pierre Lurton. In 1992, Pierre Lurton, who spent his childhood at Château Reynier, a neighbouring chartreuse, settles in a second home on the estate and begins to gradually acquire parts of the Deleuze family's property. In 2000, he built a modern cellar equipped with more than 40 cement vats. Finally, in 2013, he became the sole owner of the vineyard and the chartreuse. The property covers an area of 40 hectares of clay-limestone soil, conducive to the vine, where tradition and innovation meet to produce exceptional wines.

The average age of the vines, planted at a density between 4,000 and 7,500 feet/ha, is 25 years, although some of the oldest reach 75 years, thus offering increased complexity and depth to the wine.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage was marked by an early start to the season, followed by a frost episode that affected part of the merlots. The spring was contrasted, with sunny and stormy periods. The summer, hot but moderate, confirmed this precocity. These weather conditions allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes, despite a historically low yield.
Vinification and ageing
Vinification was carried out plot by plot to highlight the diversity of the terroir. The grapes, mainly harvested in the morning, underwent pre-fermentation cold macerations. The ageing was shared between 400-litre barrels for discreet woody notes and concrete vats on fine lees, to preserve the floral and fruity typicity of the wine.
Blend
Château Marjosse 2023 is a blend mainly of merlot (55%), accompanied by cabernet franc (20%), cabernet sauvignon (20%) and a small proportion of malbec (5%), which gives it a balanced structure and a promising ageing potential.
