Description

The freshness and aromatic richness of a Sauternes wine

The estate

Located on the Haut-Barsac plateau, Château Liot has belonged to the David family for several generations.

The vineyard

A benchmark among Sauternes wines, Château Liot's vineyard covers 40 hectares, 20 of which are planted within the Sauternes appellation and 20 hectares of red and white varietals in Graves. This terroir is made up of red clay soil, resting on a limestone base. Château Liot has been HEV certified since 2020.

The vintage

A particularly mild winter with normal amounts of rainfall favoured an early budbreak in March. A major frost at the beginning of April affected the vineyard and disrupted the development of the vines. The temperature variations recorded from September onwards, between warm days and cool nights, were ideal for refining the ripening process, ensuring the development of Botrytis cinerea and preserving the vines’ healthy condition. The harvest was carried out in successive selections from September 30th to October 18th. Despite historically low yields, this 2021 vintage is seductive in its aromatic clarity, richness, brilliance and concentration.

Vinification and ageing

Hand-picked in three successive stages. Traditional fermentation and vinification. Aged in barrels for 12 months.

The blend

Semillon (75%)

Sauvignon Blanc (15%)

Muscadelle (10%).
