Description
A powerful and elegant great Margaux red wine
The estate
Château Lascombes is an illustrious Margaux Cru Classé, renowned for the exceptional quality of its wines. Covering 120 hectares of the Margaux appellation, this historic estate was recently acquired by the Lawrence family. Château Lascombes is preparing to enter a new era with the arrival of Axel Heinz in 2023, making the 2022 vintage particularly interesting for future comparisons.
The vineyard
Located on Bordeauxs’s Left Bank in the Margaux appellation, the Château Lascombes vineyard benefits from a variety of soil types, bringing a unique complexity to its wines. Viticultural methods include leaf thinning on the sunny side in June/July and bunch thinning where necessary. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in ten-kilo crates and sorted before and after destemming to ensure optimum quality.
Winemaking and ageing
Vinification includes cold maceration, followed by gentle daily pumping over during a 35-day vatting period. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels, and the wine is aged on its lees for 3 months. The wine is aged in 60% new oak barrels for 18 months.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (67%)
Merlot (30%)
Petit Verdot (3%)
