The elegance and richness of a Margaux red wine

The estate

With its origins dating back to the 13th century, Château La Tour de Mons is one of the oldest wine estates in Margaux. Classified a Cru Bourgeois Superieur, Chateau La Tour de Mons underwent major renovations in the 1990s. Managed by CA Grands Crus since 2012, under the direction of Technical Director Anne Le Naour, Chateau La Tour de Mons produces wines that reflect the authenticity of the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux.

The vineyard

All in one piece, the 48 hectares of Château La Tour de Mons vineyards extend over Garonne gravel and clay-limestone soils in the heart of the AOC Margaux.

The vintage

While the heavy rainfall in winter replenished the water reserves of the vineyard, the mild weather during the spring favoured the development of the vines. The particularly hot summer did not damage the vines, thanks to the soil in which the latter are planted: predominantly clay with limestone outcroppings. The sanitary conditions were perfect and the Merlot was particularly expressive.

The aging

The Château La Tour de Mons 2020 was aged, from the end of its alcoholic fermentation to its bottling, in 25% new oak barrels and 75% oak barrels of one previous wine. The barrels were sourced from great French coopers, like Belleme, Moselle, Allier, Rambouillet.

The blend

The Château La Tour de Mons 2020 was made from a blend of Merlot (57%), Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), Cabernet Franc (4%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
