Description
A round and racy red from Listrac-Medoc
Chateau Fonreaud is a cru bourgeois produced in the Listrac-Medoc appellation. The property's name is a derivative of "Royal Fountain". According to legend, the King of England would have halted Fonreaud by seeking a spring to quench his thirst. The vineyard is one parcel of land, that covers 32 hectares, is planted on limestone from the Pyrenees. The vineyard is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. The wine is matured in oak barrels (30% are new).
Chateau Fonreaud 2016 is a deep ruby color. The nose is impeccable, developing subtle aromas of red fruits and spices. The attack is full, with hints of fruit and vanilla blended into the tannins. A very velvety Listrac-Medoc.
