Description

A Classified Great Growth from Saint-Émilion with a rich, century-old, familial know-how

The estate

An important example of a wonderfully rich winegrowing heritage, Château Corbin has been telling stories of vines and humans since its foundation. Although the château was erected in the 18th century, legend has it that the grounds of the estate belonged to the famous black prince who fought against the French at the dawn of the Hundred Years’ War. Today, the estate has belonged to the same family for nearly a hundred years. Age-old passion is passed on from generation to generation. In this way, Anabelle Cruse, supported by her husband, Sébastien Bardinet, nurtures the estate with her work and her spirit, giving it its reputation of excellence.

The vineyard

Château Corbin lies beyond the vines of Pomerol and at the entrance to Saint-Émilion. There, this Classified Great Growth watches over 12.31 hectares of Merlot (92%) and Cabernet Franc (8%) vines, which are deeply rooted in clay- and sand-influenced soil. Aged by 33 years on average, the vineyard is cultivated in the simplest way, notably through manual harvests.

Winemaking and ageing

After manual harvests in small crates, the grapes are taken to the cellar to begin the winemaking process. Vatting occurs in small-capacity, thermoregulated raw cement vats for 10 to 16 days, with pumping over.

Blend

Merlot (95%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).
