Description
The structure and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion wine by Bellefont-Belcier
The estate
Château Bellefont-Belcier was bought in 1889 by the Faure family who, through their innovation and hard work, made this estate into one of the jewels of the Bordeaux region. In 1994, it became the property of BJL & Partenaires, opening a new chapter in the life of this Grand Cru Classé, whose facilities were modernised. Château Bellefont-Belcier has passed through several hands in recent years before joining the Vignobles K of Hong Kong's Peter Kwok in 2017.
The vineyard
Around twenty hectares in total, the vineyard of Château Bellefont-Belcier, Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion in the Bordeaux region, extends over a clay-limestone hillside and molasse de Fronsadais soils.
Vinification and ageing
Harvests between September 15 to October 9. The fermentations were carried out without the addition of sulphur, and vinification took place entirely in concrete vats. Ageing was carried out in new oak barrels (30%), in ovoid casks (20%), in second-fill barrels (25%) and third-fill barrels (25%).
The blend
The Château Bellefont-Belcier 2020 was made from a blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
