The property

Located in the beautiful Colchaga Valley, Clos Apalta has become one of the most famous estates in Chile. The microclimate of Clos Apalta, combined with preserved know-how, is thus the cornerstone of the birth of exceptional artisan wines.

The vineyard

On an exceptional terroir, the vineyard extends over 60 hectares of vines, some of which are over 80 years old. Clos Apalta is a Central Valley wine known for its refinement and aromatic signature.

The vintage

The winter was marked by abundant rainfall and temperatures higher than the previous year. The spring, under a moderate climate, favored a homogeneous budding and flowering, ensuring a regular growth of the vine. The summer, generally more temperate than usual, experienced some heat episodes in January, with waves that could last up to five days. March 2015, the hottest in recent decades, did not compromise the quality of the grapes, which reached an ideal maturity, expressing a beautiful aromatic intensity and a harmonious tannic structure.

46% carmenère, 30% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot and 5% cabernet franc.

Tasting

Nose
Expressive, the nose reveals fruity fragrances (ripe black fruits, blackcurrant, plum), licorice, cedar but also oak and spices.

Palate
Combining depth and complexity, the palate seduces with its concentration, its ample tannins supported by a silky texture and gourmet notes of chocolate and mocha. The finish is of a beautiful persistence.
