Description
A smooth and rich Barbaresco wine
The estate
From the 1950s onwards, the Rocca family gradually acquired plots of vines near the town of Barbaresco, in the Piedmont region. In 1978, Bruno Rocca, a former miner, decided to produce his own wines with the ambition of elaborating vintages that express the richness and authenticity of fine Italian terroir.
The vineyard
Bruno Rocca reigns over a 15-hectare vineyard.
The wine
This 2019 Barbaresco Currà by Bruno Rocca is a Piedmont wine stemming from the Cru Currà vineyard located in the village of Neive. The vines are planted on a clay-limestone soil made up of Sant'Agata marl and sandstone.
The vintage
A cold, rainy winter preceded a spring that alternated between mild conditions and rainy spells, resulting in a heterogeneous development of the vineyard depending on the plots. While June was particularly hot, July was marked by cool and particularly wet conditions. Hot and dry, August gave way to a rainy month of September, but the significant temperature variations between day and night ensured an optimal ripening of the grapes until the harvest.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification lasts 20 to 25 days and is carried out in steel vats. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months.
The blend
Nebbiolo (100%).
