Description
A precise and rich white Sancerre wine
The estate
The Mellot family boasts a long and rich winemaking history as Alphonse Mellot founded his estate in Sancerre in the early 19th century. Passed down from father to son for several generations, the family-owned estate watches over a single-block terroir that comprises more than 30 hectares of vines.
The vineyard
Alphonse Mellot's Demoiselle 2020 is a Sancerre wine that stems from a 0.50-hectare vineyard in the heart of the appellation. The vines are 71 years old on average and rest on clay soils with deep silex-elements.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigourously sorted by hand on a conveyor belt before being delicately pressed. Aged for ten months in wooden vats. Bottled based on the moon phases.
